History of Empowering Youth Global Connection (EYGC)

EYGC was created as a solution to concerns, love of culture; family and the youth of the world.

In 2019 Dr. Gerald Baraza and Mrs. Allison Baraza were brainstorming on how to help their son who was in 1st grade, and facing issues involving racial injustice, stereotypes and a desire to show the world how proud he was of his Kenyan heritage. As parents we looked to the school for help, the community and other resources and at that time we couldn't find anything/ anyone that catered to this need. Then that same year the Baraza family along with Mrs. Kim Hoving traveled to Kenya to visit family.

One of the stops was to visit one of Gerald's sisters who at that time had a primary school in one of the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. The Baraza's had packed a few school supplies, friends had given toys and candies to hand out , Fellowship Church provided funds to purchase the school and the teachers bags of Maize, Beans and Flour.  This was a kind gesture but not

Between seeing first hand the importance yet difficulty of obtaining education in Kenya and the troubles in Holland, MI  with adversity. The Baraza's came back from Kenya with a strong desire to work with both communities they call "Home". The Baraza's along with Mrs. Kim Hoving and Mrs. Rashelle Wynegar then started EYGC.
